 Workplace Delegates

"Site delegates
represent the rank and file workers at the workplace"

Within each company and on major sites members are encouraged to elect union delegates.

These delegates are employees of building companies but have legal rights under the award, the law and enterprise bargaining agreements to represent rank and file workers.

Delegates are required by the union to attend union training so they develop more expertise and skills to better organise and represent the rank and file workers at the workplace.

Currently the union has over 500 elected delegates at various workplaces throughout the state.

The union has monthly meetings of all delegates to get feedback and coordinate the work of the union.

If you are interested in becoming a workplace union delegate contact your local organiser.

If members are not happy with the performance of a delegate they have the right to make a ‘vote of no confidence’ and have an alternate delegate democratically elected. Delegates need to ensure they have the confidence and trust of the rank and file.
