WAGE RATES

Notice to members working under Federal Awards

Please note that the rates of pay and allowances in the federal awards have not been increased since August 2005, which was the last expense related allowance increase. This is due to the new Howard IR laws that removed wage setting from the powers of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, except for expense related allowances.

The national office has lodged applications to vary the expense related allowances in the federal awards. The hearing for this matter will be held at the end of October 2006.

However in terms of actual increases to wages and work related allowances these will not be increased until the alleged “Fair Pay Commission” makes its first ruling at the end of November 2006.

The CFMEU knows that it is important for our members to know their correct wage rates and the allowances to which they are entitled. It is also important to ensure you are being paid the correct rates for superannuation and ACIRT.

These wage rates and allowances are the legal minimum entitlements for workers under these awards. Most CFMEU members work under union negotiated enterprise bargaining agreements and receive substantially higher wages, allowances and conditions of employment.

Remember, if you have a wage dispute, or want to enter an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), please contact your organiser at the NSW Branch of the CFMEU.

General information about EBA rates of pay are available on our Industrial Services and Enterprise Bargaining pages. If you are a financial member of the union and require more detail in respect of a particular EBA, ring the Counter Organiser or the EBA Department of the union on (02) 9749-0400.
