Young men are most likely to experience a
work-related injury or illness, according to the Australia Bureau of
Statistics. (ABS)
Recent research revealed younger people generally
experience higher rates of work related injury or illness than
people of other ages.
Men ages 20 to 24 had the highest rate, with 98 in
every 1000 men who worked in the last 12 months having experience a
work-related injury or illness.
For women, the highest rate occurred among those
ages 15 to 19.
The occupation groups with the highest work-related
injury or illness rates were intermediate production, transport
workers, tradespeople and labourers.
