MISSION STATEMENT
To maintain and improve the wages and working conditions
of members;
To campaign for improvements in occupational health and
safety standards;
To campaign for improvements in worker benefits as provided for in legislation e.g. workers compensation,Long
service etc.
To organise with other Divisions of the CFMEU and other
unions in peak trade union bodies to advance the interests
of all workers;
To defend the democratic rights of workers to organise and take strike action to defend and
improve their wages and living standards;
To fully unionise all building sites and workplaces covered by the union so as to enhance the
bargaining power of members to advance the interests of workers.
To affiliate with other trade unions and community groups to advance the goals and ideals of
trade unionism.
To co-ordinate and deliver training opportunities for members and in particular union officials,
delegates and safety representatives.
To join and affiliate with community coalitions and social/political organisations fighting for
similar objectives and in particular the rights of the disadvantaged, the homeless, pensioners,
etc. and to protect our environment and heritage.
To campaign for an Australian republic and socialist ideals and to oppose racism, sexism and
other forms of discrimination;
To assist oppressed people in third world countries and in particular trade unionists and
democratic forces fighting repression and injustice;To build international trade union unity;
To campaign against globalization.
