Reminder – Hearing Tests and CBUS Service at the CFMEU
Office on the No Work RDOs
Workers who have been in the building and
construction industry for many years may have suffered
hearing loss. This hearing loss is covered by workers
compensation and there is an entitlement to a lump sum
payment if hearing loss is work related and in excess of
6% binaural hearing loss. 6% binaural hearing loss
entitles a person to a claim of $4125.00.
If a worker has already received some compensation
for hearing loss, they can make a further claim for any
work related deterioration in hearing since the last
claim. Already many workers have been tested and
received tax free benefits. Hearing aids are also
provided where needed.
To improve services to members, hearing tests are now
available at the CFMEU Lidcombe office on the following
No Work Tuesdays of the Long Weekends from 9.00am to
2.00pm;
- Tuesday June 15
- Tuesday October 5
- Tuesday December 7
An appointment is not necessary, but advisable. To
make an appointment for a test on one of these days
please ring Industrial Audiology Services (IAS) on (02)
9633 1331, or contact the union’s Workers Compensation
Department on (02) 9749 0480. If these days are not
convenient, a worker can ring IAS and make an
appointment for a different venue and date.
Also on these No Work Tuesdays, a CBUS Coordinator
will also be at the CFMEU Lidcombe office so that you
can check that worker entitlements are up to date and
answer any other questions you have about your
superannuation.
