Delegates to Divisional Conference The CFMEU is a national union with Branches in all states and territories. The Construction & General Division of the union coordinates the work of all the branches and is governed by the Divisional Conference which meets every 2 years. Divisional conference delegates elect from amongst their numbers the full-time officers of the National Construction & General Division, the National Secretary, and two Assistant National Secretaries. The rank and file members from each state elect delegates to Divisional Conference every 4 years.

The number of delegates elected from each state is determined by the number of financial members. There are currently 12 delegates who were elected from New South Wales in October 2004.
